Recently, i picked up this novella that has been lying around in my closet for too long now ( since 2002) and decided to continue where i left out..
only to discover that this year, they actually released a stop motion animation about it..
was rather happy to discover that.. for i actually did enjoy the novella (or rather, still reading it.. almost completed though)
and that it also have a game after it (might plan to get!! Lol)
what is this novella i'm talking about?
well..
it's a Fantasy/Horror novella titled
and yes, it's author by Neil Gaiman, hence thats what interested me to get this novella, it's fantasy and horror.. not pure horror, but horror that has an element of imagination required into imaging it!
Although i feel that i'm a little too old to be reading this (i bought it in 2002.. that was 7 years ago) i feel that it shouldn't be shun away by people of all ages, sure it might not be scary, and the movie is an stop motion animation that might not scare your pants off, but.. it's worth a watch for the claymation..(though the movie might be more suited for the younger gen. By what the heck eh?)
so what's the story all about?
here's a short synopsis
In Coraline's family new falt there's a locked door. On the other side is a brick wall - until Coraline unlocks the door... and finds a passage to another flat in another house just like hers...
Only different.
The food is better there. Books have pictures that writhe and crawl and shimmer. And there's another mother and father there who wants Coraline to be their little girl. They want to change her and keep her with them...... forever...
The movie follows the main plot of the novella, with a few new characters and story yea.. like the garden scene or the russian ringmaster scene..
then again.. we didn't expect Coraline to look that cute anyways.. haha..
Though the movie is out in the states, it's not gonna be here until april.. such a long way i must say..
but hey.. a good show is worth the wait eh?
Did i mention that i won't mind getting a figurine of her? i didn't did i? hahah
In my opinion, nothing is better then seeing your favorite novel or comic come to play in a movie or an animation..
beats having to imagine what they look like, what the scenario is currently like, or what they are going through..but i guess that's the whole reason of a novel.. to imagine.. hah
i suggest picking up the novella if you're lacking of something to read, it ain't that bad, not too scary if you're worried..
problem is.. i couldn't find it here that time.. kinda got mine at KL.. so i'm guessing it'll be quite rare to actually obtain a first hand down here.. you can try.. or you can try contacting me.. i have some.. "ahem" materials.. if required..
or you could wait for the movie!
either way. don't miss out yea.
Here are some screenies from the movies!!
Till then, if you're interested to watch the movie!!
call me along! i'll gladly tag along and try to ruin the story for you!! cheers then!!
